COACHING,
THE "AGENT", COMPOSITION, AND POSING
It was obvious after watching
the photographer who had organized the shootout work that he did not know
what he was doing. In the weeks since, too, in my educated opinion, it
became more obvious that he was misrepresenting his experience to models
and to aspiring models, and his real intentions became obvious.
Time told all. He showed his true colors, and it was obvious that I had
been misled, along with other photographers and models.
Can you say “modeling scam”?
Yes, I am a modeling scam expert, as well as a modeling expert. Modeling
scams, though, are not always easy to spot, especially when you are hoping
for the best.
After becoming suspicious after the way that I was treated during the
shootout, and after people who were there contacted me and
filled me in on some details, I did some more research on
the organizer photographer, who oddly I could no longer get on the phone
(and I knew that I did not do anything wrong at the event, and I have
witnesses to prove it). The more that I researched him, the shadier he
became. Yes, folks, in my opinion, we have yet another amateur,
unethical Guy With a Camera who fakes it until he makes it, B.S. ing people
into thinking that he is more than he actually is.
I hate modeling scams, too. I hate cheaters.
On one of his social media profiles, he
lists himself as an agent. That alone proves that he has no clue
about what he is doing. In Florida, it is a
FELONY
to misrepresent yourself as a talent agent if you do not have a talent
agency license (TA#), or if you you do not work for a licensed
agency as an employee. So, we have this photographer claiming to be an
agent. Nice! (NOTE 09/02/11: Since this
article was published, the photographer tried to remove his claims of
being an agent off of the Internet. This does not erase the proof that
he misrepresented himself as an agent before, though, as it is still there.
It can also be verified by Internet archives. I'm sure that he would not
want me to forward that proof to the Florida department of business and
professional regulation so that they can start an investigation, too,
but I'm not petty; I'd have to be inspired to do something like that.
What will all of those models say that he told them if he was investigated?
He made a mistake, and it looks like he is trying to fix it).
An agent
or a talent agency cannot be a photographer, either. It is against
the law, as well as unethical, for a modeling
and talent agency to make money by selling any services or by dividing
fees with any service, such as photography. This is
why it is important for models to get their portfolios done before
going to any agency, and to avoid paying for a portfolio from
anyone that an agency refers them to. You cannot be sure that the agency
is not making money illegally.
Why doesn’t he learn more about the industry that he
pretends to be a part of before he tries to be a player
in it?
It’s no wonder that he did not want anyone to talk to
me. They would have found out, and many did find out, that I know what
I’m doing, and in contrast, that he did not know what he is doing.
Insecurity at its finest! Talk to me, and I’ll be able to give you
answers right then and there, and that’s something that he knew
because he talked to me a lot before the shootout event, and he knew that
I knew a lot more than he did. Talk to people like him, and they will
have to get back to you, as they have to look up the answers. In my experience,
probably from reading my modeling resource sites, too.
Who do you want? The source, or some third-rate knock-off who has to learn
from the source? I wouldn’t deal with a counterfeit modeling
expert and coach who doesn’t really know the business like they
claim, and who has to plagiarize information from real modeling experts
like myself!
Then we have a photographer who claims to “coach” models and
to teach them how to further their careers. How can he claim this when
he needs to be taught himself? The idiot can't
even turn photography into a business or a career; he spends all of his
time shooting wannabe models free of charge in TFP shoots and, later,
using them as free labor, ripping them off! How is he supposed to help
models with their careers?!?! Does he do what modeling scams and modeling
consultants do, and plagiarize information on my modeling sites, passing
my information to models as their own “advice”?
I’m sorry, but when someone misrepresents themselves, their
experience, and what they can do, THEY ARE A SCAM! The only thing
that this guy has proven to me is that he does not know what he is doing,
and that he is a liar, in my opinion.
Any models who promote this idiot and his shootout events
should be ashamed of themselves, because you ARE whom you ASSOCIATE WITH!
Stop enabling modeling scams and stop helping to make them more credible!
Another thing. He claims to teach models how to “pose” in
front of the camera. That’s a good one. Posing is a
part of composition, and you have to know composition in photography before
you can instruct anyone on posing. As this so-called “photographer”
has some issues with the composition of his photographs, how can he instruct
anyone on posing?
I’m a professional photographer with over a decade of experience,
with some of the strongest compositions in the Tampa photography market,
and I even find it a challenge to pose models sometimes. It’s not
easy, even for those of us who know what we are doing!
Whatever. Any models out there going to fall for his lies and his misrepresentation
after reading this? I hope not!
Another thing to note: The photographer has an arrogant statement on his
portfolio networking site profile. He stated that “Escorts
are welcome as long as they're quiet and watch from a distance. I don't
need their advice and neither do you! Please choose your escort wisely
and don't bring anyone who will make you uncomfortable!”
(And I quoted this because he has since removed most of this from his
profile. Yes, I save everything for evidence).
Gee, that’s controlling, obnoxious, and arrogant, if I say so myself.
I know what I’m doing, but I never turn down suggestions. Someone
is pretty insecure, there, and I might add “amateur”. He doesn’t
need advice? Models don’t need advice? Whatever, idiot! This
guy might come off as laid back and nice, but something tells me that
he has rage and control issues. If I were a model, I'd stay away!
