Click on the image for an anecdote of the modeling shoot which produced this picture. In this third picture, you can see why the Tampa Bay area is one of the best in the world for modeling portfolio development work. Photograph by Tampa photographer C. A. Passinault.Image four of our online portfolio of another Tampa model. This photograph, if we are not mistaken, was taken on location in the Tampa Bay area. The best modeling portfolio photographs are location shots. This is another great picture. This is the fifth model photograph on Tampa Bay Modeling. Pictures featured in our thumbnail array may not be the same as those of models which are in our featured model section, but often, they are one and the same.Unmatched in any Florida modeling market. The quality of this image is excellent! Photograph by C. A. Passinault, our resident photographer and modeling expert.Another top Tampa model gets their look on. The best models can obtain a wide range of looks, as you can see when you look at other pictures of this model! Is it any wonder why more and more companies and art directors are booking independent models without going through an agency? Proof that you can be a professional model, with a lucrative career, without being dependent upon an agency to find and book modeling jobs!Another awesome photograph of a Tampa model by modeling photographer C. A. Passinault, lead photographer Aurora PhotoArts, and director of Tampa Bay Modeling. For modeling portfolio work in the Tampa Bay area, nothing beats location work. Studio photography is not nearly as cost effective, or appropriate, for modeling portfolio work.Keep in mind that this picture, for a modeling portfolio, was taken by a qualified modeling portfolio photographer, C. A. Passinault, for a specialized, professional market, which is modeling. A wedding photographer or a portrait studio will not be able to give models what they need for an effective modeling portfolio, as you have to know what you are doing! This is the 12th picture in our Tampa Bay Modeling online portfolio. Yet another Tampa model shows a marketable look in their portfolio. The best models are capable of the most looks, and are not locked into a single look!Agency model or independent model? It doesnt matter, anymore, especially in Tampa Bay. Professional models like this one can be booked without going through an agency, saving both the model and the job agency fees.Modeling portfolios need at least six looks, and by looks, we mean different looks. A composite cards needs at least five, on average, with a headshot on the front, and four different looks on the back of the comp card. This Tampa model is demonstrating a marketable look right now, in this photography. Picture by C. A. Passinault.

MODELING SCHOOLS - Overpriced, overrated, and ultimately useless to start a modeling career! We have never found a single legitimate modeling school that can back up their modeling claims!

Sometimes, model searches and conventions lead to model schools. Most of these are over priced wastes of time that teach the model very little useful information, if at all. If you think that you need to learn posture and how to walk in a modeling school, we suggest going to a qualified dance instructor and studying dance. You do not have to go to school to be a model, and as far as "runway training" in Florida, go to the pro's in Miami and in New York, as there is no runway market in most of Florida, including Tampa Bay. The Independent Modeling site is the only modeling school that you will ever need, and we are free!

MODEL CONSULTATIONS - Can you trust their advice? How do they make money? Go to the source instead!

This is directly related to MODEL SCOUTING SCAMS and MODEL MANAGEMENT SCAMS, but can also be employed in MODEL SEARCHES AND CONVENTION SCAMS. With a free site like Tampa Bay Modeling with the best information that you need at no charge, what is the point? We've known of so-called model consultants who come to this site to learn from our information so they can sell it back to unsuspecting models. Some of these consultants not only steal from us, but they openly denounce us to those models and badmouth us to cover their tracks. Then we have so-called model consultants who make stuff up, and mislead aspiring models with incorrect and bad advice. In most cases, these model consultants are out to make money by selling information, or they set up the aspiring model to be scammed. You must consider the source and weigh out their qualifications and references when they offer advice, especially if it is "free". Bad advice and wrong information can hurt any career, especially when the models must later unlearn things and lose bad habits that they picked up.

COLLEGE AND TECHNICAL SCHOOL SCAMS - Go to an accredited University instead!

In a related topic which has nothing to do with modeling but has everything to do with models who might get training in a profession after or during their modeling career, be very careful with what college you go to! Any so-called "school" that is licensed as a school is eligible to obtain federally guaranteed student loans, but it does not mean that they are accredited or that their credits will transfer to real Universities. Before signing up for a trade school or college, go to a real University like the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, The University of Miami, or Florida State University and ASK if the credits of the school that you are interested in will transfer to them. If they tell you "no", don't bother with the school in question! To be worthwhile, all school credits must transfer to reputable Universities! For more, you need to check out EDUCATION SCAMS.

Scams listed here are not limited to models, and different types can be easily combined for new types of scams. If you cannot CLARIFY their intentions and VERIFY their references, go somewhere else to do business. It's professionally responsible to do so and lowers your risk. There are lots of great companies out there, like our advertisers and the companies in our resource sections, who are not scams. You owe it to your career to shop around and be selective.
