Studio photography is not nearly as cost effective, or appropriate, for modeling portfolio work.Keep in mind that this picture, for a modeling portfolio, was taken by a qualified modeling portfolio photographer, C. A. Passinault, for a specialized, professional market, which is modeling. A wedding photographer or a portrait studio will not be able to give models what they need for an effective modeling portfolio, as you have to know what you are doing!This is the 12th picture in our Tampa Bay Modeling online portfolio. It doesnt matter, anymore, especially in Tampa Bay. Professional models like this one can be booked without going through an agency, saving both the model and the job agency fees.Modeling portfolios need at least six looks, and by looks, we mean different looks. A composite cards needs at least five, on average, with a headshot on the front, and four different looks on the back of the comp card. MODELING SCAM ENABLERS

Photographers, Models, Make Up Artists, Bookers, Agents, and other professionals who assist model scams.

In some way, this is far worse than an outright model scam. A "credible" professional, selling out for money or a career advancement, will knowingly assist a model scam in scamming models. These professionals are just as guilty as the model scam that they assist, and should share in the punishment and shame when the scam is caught up with and busted.
Tampa Bay Modeling recommends not working with any model scam enabler or giving them any business. Avoid them like the plague. If you are a photographer and a make up artist who works with scam photographers wants to work with you, refuse. You don't even have to tell them why. If you are a business and a model works with a model scam, don't book them. You don't have to, as there are more models out there who are true professionals! If you are a model and a photographer works with a scam, you don't have to work with them, either.
Giving business to a model scam enabler keeps them in business and allows them to keep assisting model scams. This hurts the modeling industry, as the enabler, often someone with real skill, makes the scam look good.
Some model scam enablers will claim ignorance when confronted about their business dealings. They will claim that they did not know that they were working with a model scam. This is no excuse! They have a responsibility to at least check the references of anyone who they work with. A professional who makes the compromise of working with a model scam has made the first step of selling out and becoming a scam themselves. They will get used to bending the rules and the perks, and eventually they will get so corrupted by the model scam that they associate with that they will cease to be a real professional. Their credibility and reputation will be ruined, and frankly, we don't blame anyone who doesn't want to be tarnished by working with such an unethical piece of garbage.
Anything that makes a scam look and operate better is just as bad as the scam itself, and it becomes an issue of professional ethics. We've heard stories of scam enablers such as make up artists being confronted about the scams that they work with, only to turn around and let the scam know what was asked about them. This is a violation of trust, and is highly unprofessional, although it would be expected of professionals who use such poor judgement to begin with!
A professional in the modeling industry is only as professional as the people that they associate and work with. Remember that! Before booking and working with any model, photographer, make up artist, or business, you owe it to yourself to take a look at who they often work with.

Modeling agencies and agency bookers can be scam enablers, too. This is why it is important to find and evaluate photographers on your own and obtain pictures for your model portfolio and composite cards BEFORE going to any agency. If the agency is legitimate, they should have no problem using what you already have to book you into jobs. Do not trust the judgment of the agency or the booker. Decide for yourself, and avoid a conflict of interest and the possibility of being scammed.

Scams listed here are not limited to models, and different types can be easily combined for new types of scams. If you cannot CLARIFY their intentions and VERIFY their references, go somewhere else to do business. It's professionally responsible to do so and lowers your risk. There are lots of great companies out there, like our advertisers and the companies in our resource sections, who are not scams. You owe it to your career to shop around and be selective.
