First modeling portfolio picture of a Tampa model on Tampa Bay Modeling. All portfolio photographs, unless otherwise noted, by C. A. Passinault, lead photographer for Aurora PhotoArts Tampa Photography and Design, as well as Director of Tampa Bay Modeling. C. A. Passinault is a top photographer, as well as a modeling expert.Second model photograph on Tampa Bay Modeling. Click on the image for an anecdote of the modeling shoot which produced this picture. In this third picture, you can see why the Tampa Bay area is one of the best in the world for modeling portfolio development work. Photograph by Tampa photographer C. A. Passinault.Image four of our online portfolio of another Tampa model. This photograph, if we are not mistaken, was taken on location in the Tampa Bay area. The best modeling portfolio photographs are location shots. This is another great picture. This is the fifth model photograph on Tampa Bay Modeling. Pictures featured in our thumbnail array may not be the same as those of models which are in our featured model section, but often, they are one and the same.Unmatched in any Florida modeling market. The quality of this image is excellent! Photograph by C. A. Passinault, our resident photographer and modeling expert.Another top Tampa model gets their look on. The best models can obtain a wide range of looks, as you can see when you look at other pictures of this model! Is it any wonder why more and more companies and art directors are booking independent models without going through an agency? Proof that you can be a professional model, with a lucrative career, without being dependent upon an agency to find and book modeling jobs!Another awesome photograph of a Tampa model by modeling photographer C. A. Passinault, lead photographer Aurora PhotoArts, and director of Tampa Bay Modeling. For modeling portfolio work in the Tampa Bay area, nothing beats location work. Studio photography is not nearly as cost effective, or appropriate, for modeling portfolio work.Keep in mind that this picture, for a modeling portfolio, was taken by a qualified modeling portfolio photographer, C. A. Passinault, for a specialized, professional market, which is modeling. A wedding photographer or a portrait studio will not be able to give models what they need for an effective modeling portfolio, as you have to know what you are doing! This is the 12th picture in our Tampa Bay Modeling online portfolio. Yet another Tampa model shows a marketable look in their portfolio. The best models are capable of the most looks, and are not locked into a single look!Agency model or independent model? It doesnt matter, anymore, especially in Tampa Bay. Professional models like this one can be booked without going through an agency, saving both the model and the job agency fees.Modeling portfolios need at least six looks, and by looks, we mean different looks. A composite cards needs at least five, on average, with a headshot on the front, and four different looks on the back of the comp card. This Tampa model is demonstrating a marketable look right now, in this photography. Picture by C. A. Passinault.

LOL.... Why would I have to go to some night club to meet models? Mixing drinking and business? Whatever happened to go-see's and comp cards? I like the "VIP tables for approved models" line..... sounds like some arena where you shop for models sitting around. Is this party chaos independent modeling? I would think not (and this is coming from someone who takes parties and events very seriously).
This is not really aimed at you in particular, mind you, but I get form emails like this all of the time, so I guess that you have all of these "party models" running around thinking that the only way to get work without going through an agency is to run around networking at night clubs. Does it really work if you are looking for mainstream modeling work which is NOT promotional work for night clubs and questionable businesses? Actually, THAT would make sense, because you don't need a comp card, or a portfolio, to get promotional modeling work.
My work is cut out for me. I HAVE to do something about the ignorance, and chaos, in the modeling industry these days. No wonder modeling agencies smirk whenever you bring up models who are working independently. They maintain a measure of relevance because what these people claiming to be models are doing is hardly a threat to their business.
I roll my eyes every time I see that Erica model posing with all of her “model friends” in dark night clubs. One of them is a model who I quit working with nine years ago because she was lying to me and playing games with photographers, and then she went out and had all of these cosmetic enhancements done because she was insecure about her appearance, and thought that it was what she had to do in order to compete, and to be a model. As a result, an otherwise talented model, who could pull off a variety of looks in print modeling, locks herself into a glamour modeling look, limiting her career. It’s a joke, really, with just a tinge of sadness.
I’m just saying.
I’ve told my friend Kitty over at Florida Models all of the time that the problem with all of the modeling job offers that we get on modeling job boards is that they are promotional modeling jobs, and not the jobs that models normally get through agencies, such as catalog and print modeling work (and don’t tell me that there are a ton of fashion modeling jobs going on in the Tampa Bay area, because I know otherwise. Sure, there are SOME shows, but how many of them pay the models? Why are models cool with that? Networking? Give me a break! I call it limiting your career by branding yourself a low-rent, freebie model! Break the cycle!).
I suppose that, at first, we will have to put up with all of the bottom-feeder promotional modeling job offers on modeling job boards just a little bit longer. The good jobs are coming, and I will tell you this much..... hanging out in night clubs is not going to cut it in regards to being considered for those jobs. Don’t listen to me, though, just keep at it..... and good luck competing with models who have composite cards, portfolios, real web sites, tasteful pictures in their portfolios, and who appropriately submit their marketing materials to the companies in consideration of landing a go-see so that they can book a good modeling job!
And don’t get me going about the freebie portfolio networking sites full of amateurs who think that they do not have to invest in their careers. It’s the same deal there, too.
I’d like to think that I know what I’m talking about, too, because I own Tampa Bay Modeling, and Independent Modeling, and my model friends book the jobs that models who hang out in nightclubs aspire to land.
I feel inspired to write an article called “Party Models”. I’m also going to publish this on Tampa Bay Modeling. If you ignore it, at least the time that I spent composing it won’t be wasted, and it will help the thousands of readers that my site has.
Good day, and have fun at the club!
Sincerely,
C. A. Passinault
