Photograph by Tampa photographer C. A. Passinault.Image four of our online portfolio of another Tampa model. This photograph, if we are not mistaken, was taken on location in the Tampa Bay area. The best modeling portfolio photographs are location shots. This is another great picture. This is the fifth model photograph on Tampa Bay Modeling. Pictures featured in our thumbnail array may not be the same as those of models which are in our featured model section, but often, they are one and the same.Unmatched in any Florida modeling market. The quality of this image is excellent! Photograph by C. A. Passinault, our resident photographer and modeling expert.Another top Tampa model gets their look on. The best models can obtain a wide range of looks, as you can see when you look at other pictures of this model! Is it any wonder why more and more companies and art directors are booking independent models without going through an agency? Proof that you can be a professional model, with a lucrative career, without being dependent upon an agency to find and book modeling jobs!Another awesome photograph of a Tampa model by modeling photographer C. A. Passinault, lead photographer Aurora PhotoArts, and director of Tampa Bay Modeling. For modeling portfolio work in the Tampa Bay area, nothing beats location work. Studio photography is not nearly as cost effective, or appropriate, for modeling portfolio work.Keep in mind that this picture, for a modeling portfolio, was taken by a qualified modeling portfolio photographer, C. A. Passinault, for a specialized, professional market, which is modeling. A wedding photographer or a portrait studio will not be able to give models what they need for an effective modeling portfolio, as you have to know what you are doing! This is the 12th picture in our Tampa Bay Modeling online portfolio. Yet another Tampa model shows a marketable look in their portfolio. The best models are capable of the most looks, and are not locked into a single look!Agency model or independent model? It doesnt matter, anymore, especially in Tampa Bay. Professional models like this one can be booked without going through an agency, saving both the model and the job agency fees.Modeling portfolios need at least six looks, and by looks, we mean different looks. A composite cards needs at least five, on average, with a headshot on the front, and four different looks on the back of the comp card. This Tampa model is demonstrating a marketable look right now, in this photography. Picture by C. A. Passinault.

Is The Agency Way The Only Way?

This is an old argument, and one that will end soon. That’s when many models and other professionals in the industry wake up and realize that sites like Tampa Bay Modeling and Independent Modeling have been right all along. They will also realize that they have been horribly and maliciously misled by those in the industry who feel that they have something to lose and who do not have the best interests of the models in mind.
The modeling industry, like any industry, is all about business. It is about supply and demand, and it’s about professionals investing in the tools that they need in order to make money. The industry is what you make it, and you will get out of it what you put into it. If you want to go out there and book work without an agency, you most certainly can, and there is information on Tampa Bay Modeling and Independent Modeling that can teach you how to. It works, we have proof, and it won’t cost you a thing; you have nothing to lose by learning from us regardless of if you choose to let an agency refer you to jobs or if you are one of those who are smart enough to see things as they actually are and who get work on their own. We have been set up by professionals who realize that the only way to improve the integrity of the industry is to help others and to free them from the limitations that the industry typically tries to impose on people. Our people not only teach, but they go out and do it, and we all know that it works.
Show me a monopoly, and I will show you corruption. Show me a monopoly, and I will show you a flawed market which can never last. Show me professionals who defend those monopolies, and I will show you compromise and a lack of integrity which betray their words and claims. What is their motivation? Are they really interested in helping models, or do they lack the courage to think outside of the box and to stand against the crowd? Even if their intentions are genuine, if you show me a “professional” who plays it safe and tries to be friends with the monopolies, and I will show you someone who is worthless in the industry. We have too many followers in the modeling industry. We need leaders.
There is a saying that pioneers take all of the arrows. It is very true, although the arrows often are little more than twigs which bounce off harmlessly. Spineless followers in the industry will follow the crowd and stand against those who they feel pose the least threat, which in this case would be professionals who realize that model and talent agencies no longer are the only way. Those clueless, so-called professionals who feebly try to stand against progress are the first ones to pay the price for their arrogance and outright stupidity. We have those out there who denounce sites like ours and who try to “help” models by teaching them an outdated business model which has been proven to be a flawed conflict-of-interest. Their motivation? Some feel that they have something to lose, others are arrogant nobodies who will always be nobodies, and still others lash out in spite because they cannot compete and are afraid of the threat of change. Almost all of them are in denial. They have invested heavily into the only industry with spineless ass-kissing, politics, and the lack of integrity which come along with getting into bed with a delusional monopoly.
The agency way is not the only way. Show me a professional who tries to claim that and I will show you someone to avoid, as they cannot help the careers of genuine professionals. How can I be so sure? Well, don’t take my word for it. Take a look around.
Sure, modeling agencies probably made more sense back in the days of before the Internet and low cost professional resources, when it was very difficult to obtain professional contacts and to market yourself. Times have changed. While agencies can still be used as a source of modeling jobs, the back of the old monopoly had been broken, and the agencies know it. Since the industry has already changed and continues to change, agencies should only be used as source of modeling jobs and little else. Agencies have no business trying to manage models or to tell them who to work with simply because of the potential for ethical and professional conflicts of interests. I, for one, know that many people who agencies choose to work with are less than professional and ethical, and that is because their greed comes before the best interests of the models who they supposedly represent.
Show me a model who solely depends upon an agency for their work in any market other than a primary, and I will show you a stupid, lazy individual with limited professional prospects. Those of us who think for ourselves, actually learn how business works, and work hard to market and promote ourselves have every advantage over them, especially when we tend to go back into the agencies and snake the jobs from them with our more impressive portfolio of experience.
How many businesses in the business world hire employees from temp agencies? Couldn't it be said that model agencies are set up like temp agencies and serve the same purpose? As you can guess, it is not the main way that they do things. The modeling industry is growing up, and it is beginning to work in much the same way as the real business world. Sure, I am sure that agencies will always be around in some form or another, but in the near future they will not be the standard. Even today, the industry has already changed. Those who say that agencies are the only way are laughed at by those of us who booking work on our own today, and I will have to say that they deserve it. Those who say that the agency way is the only way often don’t know enough about the business to help you anyway, and that’s why they often hijack other sources and the credibility of others to make themselves appear to be more legitimate, and that’s just pathetic. Models who choose to hook up with people who really don't know what in the hell they are doing and who tell them that the agency way is the only way deserve what they get. They deserve to lose what little potential that they have for a modeling career, especially if they are dumb enough to be misled with this in a market like Tampa Bay. It really won't matter to those who feed them this, however, as their success if not what they are interested in; by the time that the models figure out that they have been swindled, their money and their career will be gone anyway as those who push the agency way go onto new victims.
