OPINION MENU - POST OPINION - PREVIOUS - NEXT We Need Professionalism In Photography As
2006 begins, many models in the Tampa Bay area have noticed that model
photography in this market needs to change. We have too many guys with
cameras offering low quality TFP (Time For Print) services, basically
shooting for free and giving aspiring models the impression that starting
a modeling career doesn’t have to cost a dime. This is incorrect,
and it’s really beginning to destabilize the model portfolio photography
market and, more important to me, is giving models, especially freelancers
who work without depending on an agency, a bad name. That’s only
the beginning of my issues, though. Just yesterday, yet another Tampa
Bay based, self proclaimed model portfolio photographer, who just happened
to be a TFP’er and who posted spectacularly amateur-level work,
was arrested for taking nude and risque pictures of an underage model.
How did he do it? By using a portfolio networking site! These amateur
photographers and clueless models running around are giving us all a bad
reputation, and I am sick of it. We need more professional freelance photographers
and professional freelance models making themselves known. If they don’t,
then it only gives old-industry model and talent agencies more leverage
in business, and stunts the advancement of the new industry. ~ Danielle Cooper, Editor Tampa Bay Modeling Clearwater Beach, Florida
