Photograph by Tampa photographer C. A. Passinault.Image four of our online portfolio of another Tampa model. This photograph, if we are not mistaken, was taken on location in the Tampa Bay area. The best modeling portfolio photographs are location shots. This is another great picture. This is the fifth model photograph on Tampa Bay Modeling. Pictures featured in our thumbnail array may not be the same as those of models which are in our featured model section, but often, they are one and the same.Unmatched in any Florida modeling market. The quality of this image is excellent! Photograph by C. A. Passinault, our resident photographer and modeling expert.Another top Tampa model gets their look on. The best models can obtain a wide range of looks, as you can see when you look at other pictures of this model! Is it any wonder why more and more companies and art directors are booking independent models without going through an agency? Proof that you can be a professional model, with a lucrative career, without being dependent upon an agency to find and book modeling jobs!Another awesome photograph of a Tampa model by modeling photographer C. A. Passinault, lead photographer Aurora PhotoArts, and director of Tampa Bay Modeling. For modeling portfolio work in the Tampa Bay area, nothing beats location work. Studio photography is not nearly as cost effective, or appropriate, for modeling portfolio work.Keep in mind that this picture, for a modeling portfolio, was taken by a qualified modeling portfolio photographer, C. A. Passinault, for a specialized, professional market, which is modeling. A wedding photographer or a portrait studio will not be able to give models what they need for an effective modeling portfolio, as you have to know what you are doing! This is the 12th picture in our Tampa Bay Modeling online portfolio. Yet another Tampa model shows a marketable look in their portfolio. The best models are capable of the most looks, and are not locked into a single look!Agency model or independent model? It doesnt matter, anymore, especially in Tampa Bay. Professional models like this one can be booked without going through an agency, saving both the model and the job agency fees.Modeling portfolios need at least six looks, and by looks, we mean different looks. A composite cards needs at least five, on average, with a headshot on the front, and four different looks on the back of the comp card. This Tampa model is demonstrating a marketable look right now, in this photography. Picture by C. A. Passinault.

10 tips for models and aspiring models

1. Read the free information on the Tampa Bay Modeling, Independent Modeling, Florida Modeling Career, and Advanced Model web sites, which are affiliated, before doing anything. Avoid modeling schools, too; they are not worth it. We are the only modeling school that you will ever need, and we are free!

2. Never buy anything from anyone advertising modeling jobs. Never buy services from anyone who has to lie to you or trick you, as that is a scam, and it’s fraud.

3. Never buy services from a modeling agency, or from anyone who they refer you to; agencies are not allowed to profit from services sold to models, and you can never be sure if they are doing this. To be sure, invest in your portfolio and comps before going to any agency!

4. Modeling agencies work for models, and not the other way around; never allow a modeling agency to manage your career or tell you what to do, especially since they work for other models, who are your competition. It is best to only use a modeling agency as one of many sources of modeling job leads, and to obtain representation from as many as possible.

5. No experience necessary? Don’t believe it! No fashion show or modeling job is going to book inexperienced models. If you are an experienced model who already has a modeling portfolio and composite cards, you also do not need to buy anything to be considered for a modeling job. We have NEVER seen any modeling job advertised on the radio, or in the paper, turn out to be legitimate. Every single one that we checked out was a scam baiting people into buying overpriced services with the promise of a job offer which could not be verified. If they drop big names, call those companies to verify if it’s true!

6. Invest in your career. You are going to need a modeling portfolio and composite cards before you can book modeling jobs, and this is true even if you choose to let a modeling agency work for you and find you jobs. Get your modeling portfolio before going to any agency to avoid scams! You get what you pay for, and starting a modeling career is not free. You will not be able to compete against professional models who have better career tools.

7. Wedding photographers will not be able to give you the modeling portfolio that you need, as they do photography for a consumer market, and not educated, professional clientele. You need to find a reputable professional photographer, or photography company, which specializes in modeling and talent photography, and which can demonstrate their expertise with their portfolio. Invest in services from someone who is honest about what they do, too, and not someone who has to trick you by advertising modeling jobs.

8. Sexy is dangerous. Avoid nude, boudoir, and glamour photography in your modeling portfolio. It will limit your marketability. Avoid photographers who try to convince you to pose provocatively, or sexy, as those pictures can be taken out of context, and can undermine your modeling career. Photographers who insist on this either do not know what they are doing, or do not have your best interests in mind. Don’t be exploited.

9. If you have self esteem issues or feel that you need to become a model in order to validate your self-worth and beauty, don’t even think about modeling. Modeling is not a substitute for therapy, and it is a profession where you have to know who you are, and know what you are doing, in order to succeed. It’s a career, and not as glamourous as most might think.

10. If you are under 21, get your parents involved with your modeling aspirations. If you are under 18, avoid modeling in provocative poses, bikinis, lingerie, and other inappropriate apparel. Don’t be exploited, regardless of what it pays. Pictures are forever, and once taken, you have no control over them!

Disclaimer

We are not a modeling and talent agency. We are better. We enable the model to manage, and to market, their own careers. We help to put the power of the next modeling industry where it belongs, in the hands of the professional model.
We offer free modeling information and the best value in photography and design services.
This is not an offer for any modeling job or modeling jobs. We do not guarantee employment or pay, although we do guarantee our photography and design services for quality. Our intentions are to educate everyone about the modeling industry, and to provide models with the career tools that they need for a modeling career.
Avoid modeling job scams. Never buy anything from anyone advertising modeling jobs, especially if they claim that no experience is necessary. Advertising modeling jobs, jobs which may or may not exist, in order to bait models into buying services is unethical, and it is fraud. In order to be considered for any modeling job, you must have a professional modeling portfolio, composite cards, and other career tools; this means that you would not be in the market for any services that anyone would be selling. If you are an aspiring model with no experience, and with no professional career tools, you have no business trying to book any modeling job. Only buy services from professional businesses which are honest about what they are doing, and only deal with parties which have verifiable references, and who have invested in their business. Modeling is a professional career which requires an investment, and aspiring models who do not invest in the tools that their career needs, and who do not have experience, will not book modeling work. Inexperienced, aspiring models who do not have professional marketing tools will not be able to compete against professional models who have invested in their careers, and it is one of the main agendas of Tampa Bay Modeling to discourage amateur models, photographers, and other unprofessionals from working in our industry.
Never buy anything from a modeling and talent agency, and do not buy anything from businesses who they refer you to. A modeling agency is not allowed to profit from the sale of modeling portfolios, composite cards, and others tools. They are not allowed to sell these services, either.
